Detect a Scam

November 8, 2019

Planning you won event is hard work. You will be exhausted both physically and mentally. That’s why we tend to look for a way to make it easy for us in all the wrong places.

Detecting a SCAM is very hard. You cannot tell if an event supplier is legit or not just by checking their online social media account.

So how can we tell if they are scamming us? WE CAN’T!!! That’s just the way it is. No one can tell if they are being scam until it is to late. But What we can help you is how to determine if a supplier is LEGIT.

HOW TO CHECK IF THEY ARE LEGIT

Here are a few things to check to determine if your supplier is legit:

  1. Visit their PLACE

Ask for their office address or home address and make an effort to go their. If your supplier don’t want you to visit their work place and give you all no-sense excuses then you better think twice if you want to continue dealing with them. Now, if you’re the one who don’t want to go to their place of work for non-sense excuses then don’t blame others for your lack of diligence.

The reason for this is for you to know where you can get them if ever they SCAM you.

2. Check if they are REGISTERED

Every town or city have a nearby DTI office, set some 10 minutes to spare and visit one to validate your supplier. You can get all lots of details from them like their address, the complete name of the registered owner.

The same reason above applies to this one.

3. Check their WEBSITE

Now, I’m not saying that all suppliers that don’t have their own website are SCAMMER but all scammers will not waste their time and money to build a website.

WHY HAVE A WEBSITE?

Yeah we can say why have a website when having a social media is the same and FREE. Well that’s the problem. IT’S FREE! Anyone can build a new social media account to hide, they can easily change its name so you can’t do a search on them, they can easily block you and other stuff that scammers may do.

What to check in your suppliers website? first, check their address, contact number, email address and the name of the members of your suppliers. You can also check their previous events which have the names of previous clients which you can contact to make some background checks.
